off our first day of intense labor, and I'm sitting here in the back
seat of our shuttle bus barely able to keep my eyes open at 4:05pm in
the afternoon. wow.
highest priority: shower. And then we've got an informal "share what
you thought" time at 5:30pm outside the Samaritan's Purse trailer.

How fifty of us are jumping in vans and surfing the interstate down to St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana to love, rebuild, work, serve, sweat, and give what we have to the long-term victims of Hurricane Katrina. Our coordinating partner is Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian charity who has completed more than 6000 disaster relief projects in the area to date. We're from the University of Illinois, our student fellowship is called I-Life, and this is our short story.

We were forcasted to have severe thunderstorms this afternoon, but it turned out they passed above us, and thankfully we received only a few drops of rain. No tornado watch or warnings that we were warned of - and I'm pretty confident that the Samaritan's Purse personnel would have been on top of that had it been the case - they've been all about our safety. So no worries.
